Denny FitzPatrick
Denny FitzPractick grew up in the Bay Area, studying classical piano in his adolescence. After receiving his bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s and the University of Madrid, and his graduate degree from U.C. Berkeley, he taught Spanish at high school and college levels for several years. He then ran the family Chevrolet dealership in Concord until he retired in 2013. But within his involvement with those strange bedfellows, he ever embraced his passion for writing and recording music, forgoing a lasting friendship with legendary sound designer, Richard Beggs, at his San Francisco studio in the 1970’s. It was only after settling in the Sierra Foothills and experiencing the soul of Nevada City’s truly unique art/music colony - and the integral magic of Grammy winner Tommy Coster’s studio genius, that Denny began a journey that would redefine his song writing and lyricism. Through influenced by Steely Dan, Brian Wilson, and Journey, but always balanced by his signature poetry, storytelling, and versatile composition.
